Repair Cafe
2024
Helen McCrorie
Travelling Gallery’ s Season 3 2024 exhibition presented artwork by artist and filmmaker Helen McCrorie that brought together work created with the residents of Strathearn, in Perthshire, as part of the Scotland-wide Remembering Together project. The project aimed to bring ‘collective acts of reflection, remembrance, hope and healing to communities across Scotland’ in the years following the Covid pandemic.
Repair Cafe centred around Helen’s community film, in 16mm, titled Strathearn, that captured recollections of the pandemic from local residents of all ages. Exhibited alongside the film were a number of additional works that revealed some of the processes and thinking behind the making of the film.
Helen also collaborated with Glasgow-based illustrator Annabel Wright to produce a number of drawing works that illustrate and bring to light some of the personal stories that were shared during the project; some sad, scary or poignant, some hopeful, funny or surreal, the work expanding further upon the spectrum of insights and experiences from this time.
The exhibition toured between September and November 2024.
