Ark Camps by Edinburgh based artist Mike Inglis became the Travelling Gallery’s livery in 2015 and has travelled the length and breadth of Scotland since it was installed on the vehicle.
Ark Camps depicts a community engaged in the construction of giant Ark structures from the debris of old boats and wooden constructions. These structures are to be seen as a cypher for positive rebuilding, reflecting also the bus as a form of cultural ark travelling the byways of Scotland. The artwork makes references to outsider artist Angus McPhee in the grass woven costumes, as well as fragments of highland fishing boats and architectural oddities.
